A dance theatre that blends contemporary dance, poetry and live music into a poetic yet political review on issues of ‘borders’, inspired by the Estonian novel Piiririik, Borders States abstracts and dives into the obscure existence of people being ‘bordered’.

Sometimes I just wish to stay in the border. Sometimes I rather go back to the safe zone. Being stable, belong to, or stay in one place. I drift between the force pulling me back to safety and the fragile beauty of ambiguity. Border... does it mean, there is always a border between you and me? Here and there? Border States is asking, is it possible to truly understand another person?

靈感源自愛沙尼亞小說《邊境國》，擷取的是某種向遠方外望的姿態，與曖昩不明的存在狀態。「Border States」既可解作「邊境國度」，又是「邊境的狀態」。「邊境」聽來是一條線，是邊陲，是切割的那一刀。但「邊境國度」──卻意指一片地域。國族身分的邊界、性別／性向的邊界、被邊緣。

有時我渴望停留在撐開的裂縫之中一會兒。有時卻又渴求一個安全的位置。定點於某處；屬於、落定於某地。在渴求安穩的拉力與模糊不清的美好之間浮移不定。Border，是否意謂著，有你我之分？這邊與彼邊？《邊境國》在發問：理解是否可能。
