MULTIMEDIA INSTALLATION X SITE-SPECIFIC BODY THEATRE – BORDER I

檢查站上的年輕軍人、守護聲音的老人、攜帶炸彈的父親、失語的記者……邊境族在任何一個國家裡，又不在任何一幅地圖上。

邊境族是每一個被逼害的民族，每一把消逝中的聲音。他們一直都在，而總不被聽見。「我們是虛構的我們是真實的我們不僅在外地流亡更在自己的家園流亡」–這是一個不存在的族群，如河流般的千年故事。「邊境族」不是某一個特定的民族，而是所有家園被侵佔、身份被剝奪、文化被斷絕的人們；不是「他者」，更是「我們」。如果戰爭是權力與暴力交合的極端形式，那麼，權力到底是甚麼？暴力的根源在哪裡？

小息跨媒介創作室在古蹟建築牛棚藝術村裡，以聲像裝置、現場音樂、形體舞蹈及戲劇探討戰爭、暴力與權力，詰問人性與自由。請準備耳朵與心靈，踏進邊境，傾聽被噤絕的聲音。

He’s standing at the check point, that young soldier…

He’s protecting the dying languages, that old grandpa…

He’s carrying the bomb, that father who left his darling daughter…

She’s aphasic, that journalist who witnesses the sufferings…

Present Absentee is here, in every piece of land, but in nowhere of any maps…

Present Absentee is fleeing, outside of inside their homeland. The play is about an imaginary group of refugees, weaving with real stories of real people the author met on her traveling. It is contemplating about identity and hegemony, about the mute voices and disconnected cultures. It is not about ‘others’, but about ‘us’. It asks, if war is the ultimate form of power and violence, then, where comes the power? What is the root of violence and hatred?

A night with sound installations, live music, movements, dance and drama in the old cattle house of To Kwa Wan Artist Village. A night to step onto the invisible borders to hear the long-lost voices.
